Which DPF Delete Pipe Fits Your Truck? A Complete Buyer’s Guide by Platform
Which DPF Delete Pipe Fits Your Truck? A Complete Buyer’s Guide by Platform
You’ve decided to delete the DPF. You’ve done your research, you understand the EGT and fuel economy benefits, and you’re ready to order.
Here’s where most people screw up: they buy the wrong pipe.
Not the wrong brand. Not the wrong size. The wrong fitment. A 4th-gen Ram pipe on a 5th-gen truck. A 4-inch pipe on a platform that really wants 5-inch. A Duramax L5P pipe on an LML. It happens more often than you’d think — and the return shipping alone can eat $40+.
This guide walks you through every Cavusheo DPF delete pipe, organized by platform, so you buy the right one the first time.
Before You Buy: The Two Questions That Matter
Every diesel truck owner needs to answer exactly two questions before clicking “Add to Cart”:
1. What’s your truck’s generation?
“Ram Cummins” isn’t specific enough. A 2018 Ram 2500 and a 2020 Ram 2500 use different delete pipes. The DPF mounting points, flange positions, and pipe routing changed between generations — even though the engine displacement stayed the same.
Know your year range, not just your brand.
2. What’s your power goal?
If you’re staying on a mild tune (0-60 HP over stock), a 4-inch pipe is adequate for Duramax and Powerstroke. If you’re planning a bigger turbo, injectors, or heavy towing, go 5-inch from the start. Upgrading later means buying a second pipe.
Buy once, not twice.
Platform-by-Platform Breakdown
2017-2019 GM Duramax 6.6L (L5P)
Pipe: 4" DPF Delete Pipe
Price: $249.99
Best for: L5P owners who want maximum EGT reduction on a mild-to-moderate tune
The L5P Duramax is the most powerful factory diesel GM has ever built — 445 HP and 910 lb-ft from the factory. But that power comes with one of the most restrictive DPF systems in the segment.
Why 4-inch? The L5P’s factory turbo outlet is designed for a 4-inch connection. Going larger requires an adapter or custom fabrication, and on a stock or mildly-tuned L5P, the flow gain from 5-inch over 4-inch is marginal. Save the money and put it toward a tune.
Fitment note: This pipe is specific to L5P (2017-2019). It will NOT fit LML (2011-2016) or LM2 (3.0L diesel). The flange bolt pattern is different.
Also consider: If you’re running highway long-distance and the cab drone is annoying, add the 5" Compact Diesel Muffler — it adds virtually zero backpressure and cuts highway drone by 60-70%.
2020+ GM Duramax 6.6L (L5P)
Pipe: 4" DPF Delete Pipe
Price: $249.99
Best for: Current-gen L5P owners who want the same EGT and fuel economy gains
The 2020+ refresh kept the L5P engine but revised the emissions routing and underbody packaging. Same engine, slightly different pipe geometry — which is why there’s a separate SKU.
Why not the 2017-2019 pipe? The mounting points shifted in the 2020 mid-cycle refresh. Using a 2017-2019 pipe on a 2020+ truck will leave you with a fitment gap at the mid-pipe hanger. It can be made to work with a custom bracket, but at that point you’re doing fabrication — which defeats the purpose of buying a bolt-on solution.
Fitment note: This pipe is for 2020-2023 L5P Duramax. Verify your model year before ordering.
2011-2016 Ford Powerstroke 6.7L
Pipe: 4" DPF Delete Pipe
Price: $249.99
Best for: 6.7L Powerstroke owners on mild tunes (up to ~550 HP)
The 6.7L Powerstroke (2011-2016, aluminum-body-pre-refresh) has excellent turbo response from the factory. The GT37-based VGT spools fast, and the biggest bottleneck is the DPF — not the factory pipe diameter.
Why 4-inch? The stock turbo outlet on this generation is 4-inch. At the power levels most owners target (500-550 HP on a mild tow tune), 4-inch provides sufficient flow with no measurable restriction. Unless you’re going compound turbo, you won’t outgrow a 4-inch pipe.
What to watch: The factory V-band clamp at the turbo outlet can seize from heat cycling. Have a replacement clamp on hand before you start the install — it’s $15 and will save you an hour of fighting a rusted clamp with a breaker bar.
Also consider: This generation Powerstroke is notorious for cab drone at 1,800-2,000 RPM after a DPF delete. The 5" Compact Muffler takes the edge off without affecting flow.
2011-2018 Ram Cummins 6.7L (4th Gen)
Pipe: 5" DPF Delete Pipe
Price: $279.99
Best for: 4th-gen Cummins owners who want a bolt-on 5-inch upgrade with room to grow
This is the most popular delete pipe in our lineup, and for good reason: the 4th-gen Ram (2011-2018) is the sweet spot for diesel performance. Pre-DEF-fluid-quality-sensor headaches, pre-CP4.2 fuel pump recall drama, and a Cummins engine that’s been refined across four generations.
Why 5-inch? The Cummins 6.7L moves more air than its displacement suggests. With a mild tune, EGTs under load can still creep past 1,200°F on a 4-inch pipe. The 5-inch gives you headroom — lower cruise EGTs, faster turbo spool recovery after a shift, and capacity for future upgrades.
Fitment note: This pipe fits 2011-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. Does NOT fit 2010 and earlier (different manifold flange) or 2019+ (5th gen, different pipe routing).
2019-2023 Ram Cummins 6.7L (5th Gen)
Pipe: 5" DPF Delete Pipe
Price: $279.99
Best for: 5th-gen Cummins owners who want the cleanest possible flow path
The 5th-gen Ram introduced a revised chassis, a larger cab, and — for the 2019+ Cummins — revised emissions packaging that changed the DPF mounting geometry. Same engine, different pipe routing.
Why 5-inch? Same physics as the 4th-gen: the Cummins 6.7L breathes deep. The 5th-gen Ram is heavier than the 4th-gen (by 300-500 lbs depending on configuration), which means more load on the engine during towing — and more heat to manage. The 5-inch pipe provides maximum flow margin for heavy towing.
What to know before ordering: The 5th-gen has tighter underbody clearance around the transmission crossmember. The Cavusheo 5-inch pipe is mandrel-bent to clear this area without rubbing. Cheaper crush-bent pipes will make contact and rattle against the crossmember — we’ve seen it on competitor products.
5" Compact Diesel Muffler (Universal)
Pipe: 5" Straight-Through Muffler
Price: $119.99
Best for: Anyone running a delete pipe who wants EGT control and tolerable cab noise
This is the product that doesn’t get enough credit. A lot of guys delete their DPF, go straight pipe, and convince themselves the drone “isn’t that bad.” Then their wife refuses to ride in the truck. Or they can’t hear the radio on a 4-hour highway trip.
What it does: Straight-through perforated core with fiberglass packing. Kills high-frequency rasp and drone in the 1,500-2,200 RPM range (the highway cruise zone) without adding measurable backpressure. Installs inline on any 5-inch exhaust system using band clamps.
What it doesn’t do: It won’t quiet your truck like a factory muffler. This is not a chambered design. Your truck will still sound like a diesel — just a cleaner, less fatiguing version of it.
Universal fitment: Works with all 5-inch DPF delete pipes and 5-inch exhaust systems. Non-directional — install either way. 20-inch overall length fits even on short-bed trucks with limited straight-pipe real estate.

Quick Decision Flowchart
Not sure which pipe to buy? Answer these in order:
- What do you drive? → Pick your platform row from the table above
- What year? → Narrow to the specific SKU (e.g., 2018 Ram = 4th Gen, 2020 Ram = 5th Gen)
- Do you care about cab noise? → Yes? Add the 5" Compact Muffler. No? Skip it.
- Towing heavy or future upgrades planned? → If you’re on a 4" platform and plan to push past 550 HP, consider upgrading to a full 5" turbo-back system instead
Three Mistakes That Cost You Money
1. Guessing your generation. “It’s a 2019 Ram” is the most dangerous phrase in diesel parts ordering. The 2019 Ram 2500 was available in both 4th-gen (Classic) and 5th-gen (New Body). Check your build sheet or VIN before ordering.
2. Buying the cheap Amazon pipe. We’ve seen welds crack at the flange within 6 months on $89 delete pipes. The metal is thin, the flanges aren’t flat, and the fitment requires “persuasion” with a hammer. You’re saving $150 on a part that, if it fails, dumps exhaust gas under your cab.
3. Skipping the muffler because “I want max flow.” A straight-through muffler adds 0.2 psi of backpressure. You’ll never feel it. You will feel a headache after 3 hours of highway drone at 2,000 RPM. Just buy the muffler.
Bottom Line
You need two things to buy the right delete pipe:
- Know your exact model year and generation
- Understand that fitment matters more than anything else — a perfect pipe for the wrong truck is worthless
